Appointed as a new Secretary General for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) in 1st June 2010 to date, managing all professional aspects of Saudi Commission operations, examinations, accreditation and other related professional services throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Involved in establishing various Committees for Saudi Board Training Programs in 30 specialties, in addition of putting up the Policies and Procedures and By-Laws of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Previously, (from May 2004 to 30th April 2010) he was a Medical Director in National Medical Care Company and Chief of Medical Staff in Riyadh Care Hospital at the same time. He was then enthusiastically involved in managing all areas of the administration and medical aspects which includes overseeing, planning, upgrading the hospital services, in addition to recruiting, interviewing and selecting medical staff. During his term as a Medical Director and being a Consultant Surgeon in King Fahad Hospital, Al Madina Al-Munawarah from 1992 to 1996, he was then carried out and established the By-Laws, Policy and Procedures of the Clinical Departments and started the operations of significant Committees which made the hospital run smoothly and obtained a high level of medical care delivery services.
During his Deanship from 1987 until 1992, Prof. Al Saigh was fully responsible in overseeing all administration functions and operations. On the same occasion, he was also a Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs chairing many academic and educational committees and other important committees in this institution.

In 1995, after he completed an MBBS in Medicine and General Surgery, at King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, he successfully continued his education abroad, gaining a PhD in Neurosciences at Aberdeen University in 2001. This was quickly followed by a postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education, in 2002.
Upon his return to Saudi Arabia, in 2003, Dr, Hayani held the post of Chairman of the Department of Anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdul- Aziz University, thereafter being promoted to Vice Dean. . His contribution to University has been noted as outstanding dedication; credited by his highly esteemed reputation from both fellow faculty members and students. Likewise, his commitment to promote the status of the University, using his knowledge, experience and research activities in the International medical field has been unrelenting; in particular his efforts to develop curriculum standards to better meet International standards as well as to promote leading changes.
As a result a demand for his expertise and knowledge has led to his appointment in various committees including: Deputy Director of the Teaching and Learning Center, and Consultant for Academic Affairs in the Saudi Institute of Health Service, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Director of the Scientific Research Funds (Chair) for Alzheimer's disease in King Abdul-Aziz University, Vice Dean for Quality and Development, in the Faculty of Medicine and Director of the Community Program, Health Promotion Society, and Jeddah-Saudi Arabia.

As an author, Dr, Hayani has published more than 39 papers and articles in professional medical journals, the most significant of these publications being 'The endogenous anandamide activates vanilloid receptors in the rat hippocampus' - 2001, and 'An endogenous capsaicin-like substance with high potency at recombinant and native vanilloid VR1 receptors' - 2002. This discovery was a fruit of a continuous research on the effects of cannabinoids and vanilloids on synaptic transmission in the region of hippocampus. This has led his work to be hugely appreciated by scientists working in the field of cannabinoids and vanilloids; being regularly cited by scientific papers in this respective field. Other achievements include the discovery of the first physiological role for vanilloid receptors in the central nervous system.
Dr Al Hayani's accomplishments reflect his scope of interests in the areas of Neurosciences, medical education, for which he has successfully been awarded significant research grants from 2004 to 2011 respectively.

Dr. Nehal has worked as a staff member in the Pathology and Medical Education Departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University since the establishment of the later department in 2001 before moving to King Saud University in September 2011. She has been assigned during this duration as the Coordinator of the JMHPE and the Diploma of Health Professions Education (DHPE) till 2009 when she was commissioned as a member of the technical office of the National Authority of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education in Cairo and was assigned since then as a faculty for the Curriculum Development and Community-based, Community Oriented Education Units in the JMHPE, DHPE and the Joint Diploma in Health Professions Education (JDHPE).
Her experience in quality assurance and accreditation of Health Professions Education includes being assigned as an EMRO/WHO T. advisor for the establishment of national quality assurance system for medical schools in Libya in 2007, holding many national and regional workshops in the area of self-study planning, conduction, editing and validation in addition to being a management team member of the WHO Accreditation Project in Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
